2016 was the 26th year for CDFSA as a National Fellowship and what an exciting year this has been!! We aimed at re-establishing ourselves throughout the country and succeeded in rallying together in building relationships with key individuals and dancers in all our regions.
This end of the year Newsletter is a real bumper edition. We have attempted to capture the most heartwarming, God inspiring, treasured moments of the year, but know that we will probably not do justice to most of it. So whatever stands out for you, please make a point of making direct contact with the individual concerned…to get the full God story!!
We were contacted by New Wave Production Company in January 2016 to do a documentary on CDFSA. Because the company was based in Gauteng, the interview was conducted by Serena. This was a wonderful marketing opportunity for CDFSA. To see the interview go to our website – www.cdfsa.com
Some of our tangible successes included each region hosting workshops with awesome reviews from participants who attended. David Stanfield’s visit to South Africa created a huge awareness for us as a Fellowship as we not only reached dancers but also church leaders, movement artists, intercessors and individuals who came to learn how to wield banners.
The Annual Global Prayer Watch has been a significant event each year on our CDF Dance Calendar and this year was no different. We stand amazed at how God used us to pray into situations in our country in May of this year, from the “shaking” in our Government to the situations on our University campuses. The ICDF conference in Ghana was no doubt the highlight of our CDF year. The Conference was hosted by Ghana and Ireland and for me this was truly one of the best ICDF conferences I have attended.
We had so much interaction with everyone, it was an open air event, we did a flash mob in the shopping malls and at a bus station and I taught the Ghanaians to do gumboot and a Sokkie dance! After the 7 delegates from SA – Saartjie, Serena, Di, Lisa, Barbara, Thea and I did our dance “ Africa Belongs to our God ”, everyone wanted to learnt it.
We are thankful to ICDF – Saartjie, Jan and the team for supporting CDFSA and for hosting a wonderful International conference. We look forward to the next dance destination in 2020.
Special thanks to the National team – Tilly, Lecia, Serena, Helene, Lisa, Pam, Moira and our newly appointed Charlene for working together as a team and making this year so significant in rebuilding the walls of dance in our country.
To our members, thank you for joining us on our journey this year. It has been an exciting one and we encourage you to invite others to join us and be a part of a great move of God in dance.
As we enter 2017 let me announce that we will be hosting our National Conference in Cape Town from 19 – 22 July. Details of the conference will be posted on our website www.cdfsa.com
Pam our Prayer Coordinator has compiled a Prayer Calendar for the Year and we have attached this for you to print and keep available for your group sessions and prayer times with your dance groups.
As you enter 2017, I encourage you to reflect on the past year and learn from the challenges you’ve experienced and the mistakes you may have made. Resolve to change the things you are able to and decide what you need to let go of. Then, as you look to the year ahead, set at least 2 – 3 achievable goals which will add value to your life, your family, your dance. Write it down and then take the action to reach these goals one step/dance/leap/prayer at a time and watch as God enriches your life as He uses what you have set out to do. And then…please share it with us!! Looking forward to hearing your testimonies throughout 2017.
God bless Shalom Liesl
