Contemporary dance is highly used as a form of artistic expression around the world. It is a dance form that explores various movement principles such as personal expression, breath, travelling through space, putting weight on different body parts, and connecting with the ground and other bodies in the space. In this workshop dancers will explore the technique of contemporary dance in praise and worship through the experience of learning a contemporary dance choreography. The exciting aspect of this physical and expressive workshop is that it will challenge the dancer to let the power and beauty of the Spirit not just move the hands and the feet but the whole body as one glorious offering. This workshop is only suitable for individuals who can bear weight on their knees and hands. The costuming for the workshop presentation will be trousers and a blouse/shirt in the colour schemes of blue, grey and black. Please bring along to the conference.
One of my favourite verses is that last part of Nehemiah 8:10 that states that “…the joy of the Lord is your strength”. Reggae is an energetic dance expression from Jamaica. The workshop will explore movement vocabulary from several Jamaican dance languages. With its groovy beat, rhythmic coordination, and lively social vibes reggae has the power to draw that joy within from the inside out. Come and experience the goodness of God in unshackled praise! The costume will be black trousers and a plain red, green, or yellow top. Bring along a bottle of water too.
